Email Agent

apps/agents/email-agent reviews the main Google Workspace inbox, asks Claude to classify customer mail, and prints a draft-only digest. It never sends, labels, archives, or deletes email. Hermes cron runs it on a schedule.

Commands

The agent is its own pnpm package, not an npm workspace, so run its scripts against its directory:

• pnpm --dir apps/agents/email-agent install — install its dependencies.
• pnpm --dir apps/agents/email-agent dry-run — inspect current messages without changing local processing state.
• pnpm --dir apps/agents/email-agent run run — process new inbox messages and record their IDs locally.
• pnpm --dir apps/agents/email-agent test — run unit tests.
• pnpm --dir apps/agents/email-agent type-check — check TypeScript.

Authentication and state

Google OAuth credentials are read from the active Hermes profile. Anthropic authentication uses ANTHROPIC_API_KEY when available and otherwise calls the authenticated Hermes Anthropic provider. If a direct call fails for any reason other than a timeout, the agent retries that message through Hermes. Runtime state is stored outside the repository under the active Hermes profile.

A message that can't be fetched or analyzed is listed for the owner and retried at the next review. See Environment Variables for every setting.
